One year of Box Hill 🤍

On the 14th of August last year, we opened the doors to Box Hill for the very first time and welcomed our first ever guests! What a momentous day that was after years of planning, blood, sweat and tears!

And now, 12 months on, it’s hard to believe how much has happened in that time.

We’ve welcomed people from all corners of the world, shared our little patch of Esperance with people we would otherwise never have met and heard so many stories along the way.

It’s been amazing watching the buildings settle into their environment. The tiny little plants we put in have turned into actual gardens and the whole place feels like it belongs here now.

There has been an enormous amount of work happening behind the scenes too. Our family and friends have jumped in whenever we’ve needed them - cleaning, washing, gardening and modelling for photoshoots. Our kids have adapted to this becoming their new normal and our local tradies have patiently helped us through those minor teething problems in the beginning.

We’ve also loved working with local businesses and finding ways to bring a little bit of Esperance into the cabins. We didn’t want Box Hill to just be somewhere people stayed, we wanted it to feel like a taste of the place we love.

And then there have been the guests.
The people who have returned three and four times, the messages from those who didn’t want to leave, the little notes, watercolour paintings and sketches left behind and the stories of their Esperance adventures. These are the things we have loved finding along the way.

Box Hill wouldn’t be what it is without the people who have helped us build it, supported us, worked alongside us and most importantly, stayed with us.

So today, a very big THANK YOU to our family, friends, local businesses, trades and every single guest who has walked through our doors over the past year.

We genuinely couldn’t have imagined a better first year.

One year down. A lot learnt. A lot more to do.

We’re pretty excited to see how our little patch continues to grow. 🤍🌿
