Today, we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and heart to keep our local beaches safe.

Our patrolling members train to remain proficient, show up and give countless volunteer hours and unwavering dedication to prevent drownings along our coastline. Thanks to their commitment so far this summer season, 16 precious lives have been saved along our local stretch of coastline; locals and visitors to our beaches who found themselves in difficulty in the water. We’ve also carried out 312 preventative actions over summer, stopping incidents before they occurred.

Our local volunteers truly are the reason our beach – and our lifesaving movement – is so special. This season also navigating the additional challenges of the storm damage to the jetty and ramps and monitoring conditions relating to the algal bloom.
