🌿⭐ WE’RE PROUD TO BE ECOSTAR ACCREDITED! ⭐🌿

We’re delighted to share that Adelaide Style Accommodation has achieved EcoStar Accreditation!

EcoStar recognises tourism businesses demonstrating a high level of responsible environmental management and a commitment to sustainable tourism.

Going through the EcoStar program was also a really valuable opportunity to reflect on what we are already doing — from our native gardens and butterfly habitat to growing approximately 600 native seedlings each year for Trees For Life SA, supporting local businesses and communities, reducing waste and sharing environmental awareness through our regular Eco-Style Tuesday stories.

Importantly, it also encouraged us to look at what more we can do and where we can continue to improve. 🌱

A big thank you to Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA) for providing this valuable resource. We would highly recommend other tourism businesses explore the EcoStar program — it’s a great opportunity to review what you're doing, learn along the way and keep moving forward.

A windmill, a rainwater tank and a field of golden canola… a simple reminder of how valuable our natural resources are. 🌾💧

For generations, windmills have helped pump water on farms, while rainwater tanks capture and store precious rainfall for when it’s needed.

🥐 Saturday Food Inspiration – A Delicious Barossa Find! ☕💛

If you love discovering wonderful places to eat while exploring South Australia, add Maison Cheryse in Greenock to your list!

We recently visited this beautiful artisan patisserie, which has relocated from its former home at Kaesler Wines in Nuriootpa to a gorgeous new space in Greenock.

And what a transformation! You can certainly see the work that has gone into creating such a welcoming destination. 💛

The food is simply divine. Take a look at some of our photos of the incredible sweet and savoury pastries – choosing just one isn't easy! 🥐🍰

And yes… there’s fabulous coffee too. ☕

The staff were so friendly and helpful, with plenty of room to relax either indoors or outside. We also loved the very unique croissant lights – such a fun and fitting touch for a patisserie!

Whether you’re visiting South Australia or you’re lucky enough to live here, this is one Barossa experience worth adding to your travels. We recommend checking their current opening days and times before setting off, as these can change.

🎉 HISTORY FRIDAY | HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY, RUNDLE MALL!

This month Adelaide is celebrating a very special milestone – 50 years of Rundle Mall.

On 1 September 1976, Rundle Mall officially opened after part of Rundle Street was transformed into a pedestrian precinct. And what an opening it was!

Around 10,000 people gathered to celebrate, then-Premier Don Dunstan arrived by horse and cart, the SA Police Marching Band played – and perhaps one of the best stories of all… champagne flowed through the fountain! 🥂

Over the next five decades, Rundle Mall became so much more than somewhere to shop. It became part of our South Australian story.

Do you remember…?

🎄 Visiting John Martin’s and the Magic Cave?
🎢 The roller coaster and excitement of Dazzeland?
⚪ Saying “Meet you at the Mall’s Balls” before we all had mobile phones?
🐷 Horatio, Truffles, Oliver and Augusta – our much-loved Rundle Mall pigs?
🎤 Or perhaps when Boy George and Culture Club brought thousands of fans into the Mall in 1984?

For generations of South Australians, there are memories of shopping trips into town, meeting friends, first dates, Christmas traditions, buskers, Friday nights and simply wandering through the Mall.

And 50 years later, it remains right at the heart of Adelaide – somewhere our visitors can shop, eat, explore, people-watch and experience a little of our city’s history.

🎡 IT’S SHOW TIME IN ADELAIDE! ☀️

What fabulous weather Adelaide is enjoying for this year’s Royal Adelaide Show

There’s something about Show time that brings out the child in all of us – from the baby animals and agricultural displays to the pavilions, rides, entertainment, food and, of course, those much-loved showbags! 🐮🎠🎪

And make sure you check out The 60 Four entertainers while you’re there. This fabulous South Australian group is performing twice daily at this year’s Show, bringing their high-energy ’60s and ’70s music to the stage. You may also recognise them from The Voice Australia 2026, where they received an impressive four-chair turn. 🎶👏

They certainly know how to captivate an audience!

Our City to Beach Home at Everard Park is ideally located for Wayville and is a favourite with many of our guests attending the Royal Adelaide Show and other events at the Showground.

With secure onsite parking for up to three cars, it’s particularly convenient for families, extended families and friends travelling together. We’ve even had guests successfully park a caravan in the driveway in the past – a great option to have when travelling around South Australia.

🦋 ECO TUESDAY | Sometimes nature asks us to be patient…

Have you ever tried to photograph a butterfly?

They rarely stay still for long! Sometimes it is simply about watching, waiting and being patient for that special moment.

This beautiful Common Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina) absolutely captivated us. Its dark wings reveal striking flashes of blue-purple and white when the light catches them – certainly worth waiting for that photograph!

The Common Eggfly is usually a butterfly of tropical northern Australia, but here’s something fascinating – during favourable warm and humid conditions, these butterflies can travel south, occasionally reaching South Australia and even Victoria. In South Australia they are visitors rather than permanent residents.

It’s amazing what you can discover when you take the time to stop, observe and learn about the natural world around us. 🌿
