A new chapter.

Today I turn 48.

It also happens to mark the end of an important chapter.

After eight years with OBrien Real Estate — building businesses, this page, opening offices, growing teams and a rent roll, and representing hundreds of clients along the way — today is my final day with the group.

On Monday, my team and I will join Jellis Craig Monash, with our sellers and rental providers moving across with us.

So, why the move?

After 16 years in real estate, I’ve learned that you can’t be great at everything at once.

For a long time, my career was about building: businesses, teams, market share, rent rolls and offices. I’m proud of what we created, but over time I found myself further away from the part of real estate I originally loved most.

Working directly with homeowners. Preparing great properties. Finding buyers. Negotiating. And selling.

I wanted to simplify things and put my energy back into those areas.

But I also wanted to surround myself with a platform that could give my clients more.

One of the things I’ve admired about Jellis Craig from the outside is the calibre of its people, the quality of property represented across the network and the strength of its neighbouring offices.

The opportunity to combine 16 years of local relationships and knowledge with a much broader network of agents, buyers and buyer data was incredibly compelling.

I’m a husband and a dad to three young kids now and very supportive wife. My definition of success at 48 isn’t quite the same as it was at 30.

I’m still enormously ambitious. But I’m increasingly interested in quality over noise, focus over complexity, and doing exceptional work rather than simply doing more work.

It’s about putting the right environment around my team, our clients and the properties we’re entrusted to represent.

I’m enormously grateful to OBrien Real Estate, the people I’ve worked alongside and the many clients who trusted me during that chapter. There are friendships and experiences from those eight years that I’ll carry with me for a very long time.

And now I’m excited to see what we can build next.

Monday, we begin at Jellis Craig Monash.

A new chapter. A broader network. And a renewed focus on what I love doing most.
