Well… apparently Cyndal is becoming a bit of a TV regular. 😂📺

Last week, as part of Scam Awareness Week, our Director Cyndal popped up on the news talking about the very real risks of scams and cyber fraud in property transactions.

We’re not sure what’s more exciting — helping spread an important message about scam awareness, or the fact that Cyndal can now technically add “TV personality” to her LinkedIn bio. 🎤😂

All jokes aside, property transactions involve significant sums of money, making scam awareness and cyber security incredibly important in our industry.

Stay vigilant, question anything that doesn’t feel right, and always verify before transferring funds. 🔐

The 2026 Federal Budget has created a LOT of conversation around negative gearing and investment properties.

But here’s the important part:

⚠️ The proposed changes are NOT yet legislated.

Which means:

the final rules are not yet defined
the legislation has not yet passed
and the finer details are still being worked through

We are already seeing commentary online suggesting:
👉 “Just buy before 1 July 2027 and you’ll keep the old rules forever.”

At this stage, it is simply too early to make blanket assumptions like this.

Questions still remain around:

grandfathering provisions
contract date vs settlement date
transition rules
trusts and ownership structures
off-the-plan purchases
and exactly who will qualify for what

The fine print matters.

Purchasing property based purely on social media headlines or assumptions around future tax treatment could become a very costly mistake.

If you are considering purchasing an investment property in light of the proposed changes, we strongly recommend obtaining proper financial, accounting and legal advice before signing anything.

Because once a Contract is signed, your options can become very limited.
