This is usually how it starts.

You’re excited.
You’ve made the decision to build or renovate.
You start imagining how it will feel.

And naturally, you start saving images.

Kitchens.
Bathrooms.
Materials you’re drawn to.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

But these aren’t the decisions that determine whether a home actually feels right to live in.

You can recreate something you’ve seen almost exactly
and still end up with a space that feels off.

The resolve is in the detail...

The layout.
The flow.
What’s been simplified.
What’s been considered before anything is selected.

That part isn’t as visible —
but it’s what everything else relies on.

If you’re at the beginning of a project and want clarity before moving too far into selections, you’re welcome to reach out.

Most people think the important decisions happen once selections begin.

But by that point, many of the foundational decisions of the home have already been set.

How the spaces connect.
What the home prioritises.
How it will feel to move through and live in every day.

When that overall direction hasn’t been properly resolved first, decisions start being made in isolation.

And even beautiful individual choices can leave a home feeling disjointed, unresolved, or harder to live in than expected.

This is why I work with clients early in the process — before selections begin — to establish a clear direction for the home as a whole.

So each decision that follows feels aligned, considered, and much easier to make.

I’m currently taking on a small number of Design Direction clients for upcoming projects.

Most homes don’t feel off because of the finishes.
They feel off because there was no clear direction from the start.

Without a defined concept, planning becomes fragmented and decisions are made in isolation.

This is where cohesion is lost in many custom homes and renovations on the Sunshine Coast.

The result can feel resolved on the surface, but lacking depth and connection.

Design isn’t about more inspiration.
It’s about establishing direction early — so everything aligns from the beginning.

It’s easy to start making selections early
tiles, tapware, materials

But without a clear direction, each decision is made in isolation

And that’s when a home can start to feel disjointed
even when everything is “nice” on its own

This is why the early stage matters most

It’s not about choosing more carefully
it’s about choosing at the right time, with the right level of clarity.

This is why I focus on defining the direction early — before any selections are made.

Most people don’t come into a project knowing exactly what they want.

They just know they don’t want to get it wrong.

That’s usually where it starts to feel overwhelming; too many decisions, too many options, and no clear way to move through them.

Working with me isn’t about handing everything over.

It’s about having a clear direction from the beginning, and making decisions in the right order—so nothing feels rushed or overthought.

The layout is resolved early.
The key decisions are made with intention.
And everything that follows becomes much simpler.

So by the time it reaches site,
it already feels considered.

Bathrooms don’t need to be complicated to feel considered.

This space was designed to feel calm, grounded and easy to be in.

The palette is restrained, but that doesn’t mean it was simple.
A lot of the work happens in the balance—how the tiles meet the joinery, the warmth of the timber against the softer finishes, the way the light moves through the space.

Even the curtain was intentional. It softens what could otherwise feel quite hard and structured.

It’s these quieter decisions that make a space feel resolved.

Because good design isn’t about adding more;
it’s about knowing what to hold back.

On site today as things start to come together… joinery is going in, and it’s always the moment it begins to feel real. Took a moment at the kitchen island to take in that view over Peregian Beach.

We also spent time refining bathroom tile layouts—working through final details and cuts to ensure a clean, considered finish throughout.

It’s these on-site decisions that make all the difference to the final outcome. And that view… still the standout.

Sources of inspriation everywhere we turn. The folds, the texture, the colour variation. The subtle and the grounding strength in colour.

We see the possibilities.
