Sometimes the best buyers aren’t the ones you expect.

At 31 Kalinda Dr, City Beach, a couple wandered in off the street on auction day after spotting the home in The West while having a coffee nearby. They hadn’t inspected the property before and had no real plans to bid.

Come auction time, they jumped into the bidding against several well prepared buyers and, in one of those moments you simply can’t script, ended up securing the home.

Contracts were signed, hands were shaken, and moments later they were laughing as they rushed off, realising their groceries, including a cooked chook, were still sitting in the car šŸ˜‚

A reminder that in real estate, timing can be everything, and sometimes the right home finds you when you least expect it.

Growing up at 28 Boscombe Ave, City Beach, in the home my father built, gave me memories I’ll never forget. My brother, sister and I had an incredible childhood there, on a street that’s always meant a lot to me.

Over the past 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of representing and selling our original family home a number of times. It’s something that’s always been incredibly special to me and a real reminder of the connection I’ve always had to City Beach.

This photo of Mum, my sister and me on the balcony captures a little snapshot of those days and the life we shared there.

Some sales stay with you.

Not because of the result alone, but because of the people behind it.

The auction we almost didn’t run…

Turned out to be one of the most memorable.

Funny how these ones play out.

The day before the auction, we had no registered bidders. It would have been easy to pull the pin, but knowing how unpredictable real estate can be, .hohm and I agreed to stay steady and give it every chance.

On the day, things started exactly how you’d expect, slow, a little uncertain. But we held our nerve, and before long, two parties stepped forward.

One was an older couple who lived nearby. The other, a young couple searching for their forever home.

The older couple opened the bidding, and not long after, the young couple joined in. From there, it built into genuine competition, with the price moving past reserve and the energy completely shifting.

There was plenty of back and forth, the kind that keeps everyone watching closely, wondering who’s going to take it that one step further.

It looked like the older couple were going to secure the home. Then came a moment I don’t think anyone at that auction will forget…

The older couple paused, looked at each other, then turned to the young couple and said they knew this was where their story should begin… and chose to step away from the bidding.

It left a pretty special feeling in the crowd. Smiles all around, and the young couple were absolutely over the moon.

A really incredible result, and a reminder that no two days in real estate are ever the same. Our role as an agent is to show up, stay calm, and give it everything.
