As expected, the Reserve Bank of Australia has lifted the cash rate by 0.25%, now sitting at 4.10%.

It’s part of the ongoing effort to get inflation under control, but that doesn’t make it any easier when it starts to hit the household budget.

From what I’ve seen on the ground from the last interest rate rise, the market didn’t just stop — and it’s much the same right now. Buyers are still active. Stock is still tight. Competition is still there.

At the same time, higher rates do reduce borrowing capacity, which can gradually affect confidence and how much buyers can spend.

So the honest answer? It’s too early to say exactly how this one will play out. We’ll get a clearer picture over the coming weeks.
