Welcome to Neo Interior Design, Hi I'm Lauren Stephenson - Managing Director. Coming from a family of designers, I have naturally had a love and flair for interiors. I started my journey in the furniture and tiling industry, enhancing my product knowledge. Then after 10 years of learning and studying interior design, I established Neo Interior Design in 2013. I quickly realised a lot of my clients

couldn’t visualise how products and colours would look in their homes and all they needed was someone from the outside looking in, with an eye for detail. Once I started to see how happy my clients were from the end results, I realised I had found my passion.

15+ years in design has taught me this… sorry, but you can tell when a home has been designed without an overall vision.

It usually shows up in the little things first.

Spaces feel disconnected, finishes compete instead of complementing each other, and no matter how expensive everything is, the home still doesn’t quite feel right.

The best homes are built through strategy, cohesion and knowing what’s truly worth investing in, creating spaces that not only feel incredible to live in, but continue adding value long after the renovation is complete.

One of the most impactful changes in this Attadale transformation was the redesign of the fireplace and surrounding materiality.

A lot of people focus purely on furniture when updating their home, but it’s often the architectural elements surrounding a space like the textures, finishes, wall treatments and materials, that completely shift how a home feels emotionally.

Here, the curved and textural stone detailing was intentionally designed to soften and balance the more linear wall cladding within the living area.

This is why material selection matters far beyond aesthetics alone. 🤍

Let’s be honest, you can tell the difference when you walk through the front door of a home where everything actually works together.

For this Floreat project, every detail was intentionally considered through colour, materiality, texture and form to ensure the entire home felt connected. 🌿

This is where understanding the furniture and furnishing industry matters, knowing what to source, customise and invest in creates a home that feels personal and intentional, rather than pieced together like a generic showroom.
