Australia is hurtling towards “another debt-fueled property binge,” Bloomberg writes. With mortgage rates hitting record lows and a “loosening of lending curbs” leading buyers to swarm back to the housing market, Sydney home prices are on track to return to record highs by May. The impact is two-fold: banks become more dependent on mortgages to grow their earnings, and inequality is further baked into Australian life as first-time buyers find themselves scrapping even harder just to gain entry into the market.

Australia is seemingly rushing headlong into another debt-fueled property binge.
