Cutting out gyprock for a new doorway while learning how to find studs, measure stud spacing, locate noggins and safely remove drywall.

Love getting them involved and showing them how homes come together behind the walls.

Dont worry they didnt do much themselves to require proper PPE!

The transformation underway… 🔨✨

Demolitionat my latest renovation project - removing walls, dismantling a feature glass block wall, capping plumbing and preparing the home for its next chapter.

One of the things I love most as both a Buyer’s Agent and Building Designer is being able to see the vision and potential in a property long before the transformation begins.

Development like this is inevitable in sought-after locations, and when it’s complete, it brings more than just new buildings—it brings energy, community, and a whole new level of amenity. Think evening lights reflecting across the water, local businesses thriving, and a finished landscape that enhances what we already love about living here.

For now, we get to enjoy the contrast—peaceful sunsets with a glimpse of what’s to come.

Did you know there’s a new beach in town? 🌊

I was out walking along the Scarborough waterfront recently and stopped to check out the newly completed Flinders Parade Beach Nourishment & Groyne Extension project- and it’s looking fantastic!

The works have created a protected beach area where locals can now swim, relax and enjoy the peninsula lifestyle. I snapped a few photos while walking past to share how it’s come together, such a great addition for the community.

I’ve just spent the last few days in Surfers Paradise repainting my holiday unit (oh and never again!) and couldn’t help noticing the changes happening along the beachfront.

The Esplanade road closures and temporary installations are part of the City of Gold Coast’s Surfers Paradise Revitalisation Project, creating more pedestrian space and strengthening the connection between Cavill Mall and the beach.

Having owned here for 5 years, it’s exciting to see the area entering another growth phase. Infrastructure and lifestyle upgrades like this often signal long-term confidence in a location, and are one of the reasons Surfers Paradise continues to perform as a strong coastal investment.

Change may feel disruptive now, but it’s all part of shaping the future of this iconic precinct.

Targeting South Brisbane for Smart Investment

In early 2025, I focused on South Brisbane as a key area for investment. I spent time researching the market and building relationships with selling agents, which paid off when I spotted this unit.

I secured it for a great price, obtained vacant possession, and personally styled it throughout with furnishings, curtains, and thoughtful finishing touches.

As a Building Designer, I also created 2D & 3D floor plans to showcase the space. Now it’s managed through an Airbnb super host, delivering on its investment potential and gaining strong returns.

This is a perfect example of how research, relationships, and focus on the right location can turn a property into a smart investment.

My Investment Journey – Living on the Lake: Lifestyle Meets Long-Term Strategy

Once the build was complete, the real test began - living in the home.

The lakefront setting changed how we used our spaces every day. Living areas naturally flowed outdoors, the outlook became part of daily life, and the home truly supported the lifestyle we had envisioned from the start.

But beyond lifestyle, this home reinforced the importance of buying and building with long-term strategy in mind. Thoughtful design, orientation, and connection to the outdoors positioned the property as both a family home and a strong long-term asset.

Living here offered insights you simply can’t gain from plans or spreadsheets - how design influences daily routines, how outlook and orientation affect comfort, and how quality decisions compound over time.

This chapter brought everything together: family, lifestyle, and investment - working in harmony. 🌿

My Investment Journey – Designing Our Lakefront Home in Newport

After living in our first Newport home, I was ready for the next step.

This time, we weren’t modifying a standard plan - I designed the home specifically for the block and its lake frontage. Every decision started with the site: orientation, views, privacy, breezes, and how we wanted to live day to day.

I focused on creating strong indoor–outdoor connections, positioning living areas to maximise the lake outlook, and designing spaces that balanced openness with privacy. The home was shaped around lifestyle first, while still being conscious of build costs, future value, and long-term appeal.

Designing a home for a premium location like the lake required a different level of planning. There was no room for generic solutions - the design had to respond to the land.

This project marked another step forward in my investment journey. It reinforced how powerful thoughtful, site-specific design can be in elevating both lifestyle and property value. 🌿
