Signature Apartments has been accepted for the City of Sydney's Food Scraps recycling trial program. Katherine from the City of Sydney has set up an information booth in the North Entrance foyer this morning till 11:30am to answer any questions, and to sign up your household as participants and receive a free kitchen caddy and roll of compostable bin liners to begin collecting your food waste. You can also register online. Simply click this link and select "if your apartment building is already part of the trial" and fill out your details here:

Hi all, just a reminder in the interest of COVID safety to the Signature's residents, the strata has strongly advised that all persons who are not residents in the building including food delivery drivers and couriers, be met outside the glass door entrances of the building. With case numbers as high as they still are currently please consider that anyone outside the building, that hasn't checked-in with our building manager is a risk to all residents. Please continue to wear facemasks and social distance in common areas, avoid touching surfaces and sanitse your hands. The pool, gym and level 5 is closed until further notice. If you need to contact our building manager, he is reachable via email. Please protect your neighbours. Thank you.

This Saturday, June 19th is "Recycle It Saturday", City of Sydney Council's new recycling event where you can drop-off old household items like clothes, polystyrene, e-waste, soft plastics, paint, gas cylinders, large garden waste and more. Zero-contact drop off at Alexandra Canal Depot, 67C Bourke Road, Alexandria from 9am to 3pm. We are hiring a vanon the day to collect items at 12:30pm. If you have any of these items you want to recycle but cannot make it to the drop off centre, get in contact by sending a message on here, otherwise next one is in another 3 months. As sad as it is to close another chapter of the Signature Community Gardens (version 3) to prepare for the upcoming building works on level 5 starting 12th January, we are grateful to have it serve fresh produce and herbs to feed households at the Signature Apartments for 10+ years. This became even more impactful in 2020, as we were able to help feed struggling households who's incomes were impacted due to income.

Over the years the community garden has has played a major part in Sydney's permaculture network providing produce, plants and seeds to various community organisations such as Crop Swap Sydney, Inner West Seed Savers, Lentil As Anything Newtown, City Farm Lovers Sydney (Sydney City Farm and Pocket City Farm communities, Asylum Seekers Centre, Wayside Chapel Community Garden as well as other community gardens and home gardens all across Sydney so people can have access to fresh food.

Big thanks for the small band of people who assisted in dismantling the garden - from plant and tree transplanting, equipment storage, seed saving and harvesting. We fought dehydration, sunburns and exhaustion to get as much done. The plants that we managed to save are currently being stored in the alcove behind the southern lift on level 3 behind orange bollards and signage while works on level 5 are underway. Please be mindful of these plants as a lot of effort was made to bring here to temporarily store.

There is still a lot of produce up on level 5 so we are inviting Signature residents to take as much as they want TODAY before it gets fenced up and cleared tomorrow. These are still available for people to take:
* Silverbeet/Chard
* Cauliflower
* Mini Brussel Sprouts
* Rocket/Arugula
* Purslane (Omega 3)
* Jewels of Opar (Omega 3)
* Amaranth (Protein)
* Rosemary
* Dragon Fruit cuttings (in the green bins)
* Lime Leaves (in the green bins)
* Geranium cuttings (in the green bins)
* Aloe Vera and Succulents (in the green bins)
* Parsley Seeds if anyone wants to grow them at home
* And Sweet Potato if you want to try your luck digging them in the ground.

HWe have been advised by Dapcor that these plants on the common areas need to be removed by 7am on Monday 23 September.

If any of these potted plants belong to you, may you please remove them by this time otherwise they will be disposed of by Dapcor.
