Building stronger communities is more than just delivering new homes. It’s also about ensuring every Deicorp project contributes to the supply of housing that is affordable and accessible for those who need it.

On Friday, Deicorp officially handed over six new apartments at Melrose Central to the City of Parramatta Council to be used for Affordable Housing.

The keys to three two-bedroom apartments and three one-bedroom apartments were handed over to Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter, Acting CEO George Bounassif and Director of City Planning Jennifer Concato by Deicorp’s Chairman Fouad Deiri OAM at a small event at Melrose Central.

The apartments form part of Deicorp’s broader contribution to the transformation of Melrose Park, with Voluntary Planning Agreement funds also supporting new roads, a new high school, and public parklands.

It’s another step towards building a stronger, lasting community at Melrose Park, and creating places where more people can call home.

It was a special day for the Melrose Park community, bringing together residents, retailers, local representatives, project partners and visitors to celebrate the opening of a new destination for the growing neighbourhood.

The opening marked the culmination of years of planning, collaboration and hard work from everyone involved in bringing Melrose Central to life.

It was fantastic to officially open Melrose Central and see the precinct filled with residents, families, retailers and visitors.

With new shops, food, services and public spaces now open, Melrose Central is becoming more than a place to live. It’s becoming a place to meet, spend time and be part of the wider Melrose Park community.

That’s why we’re proud to have been part of Souths Cares’ Deadly Youth Mentoring Program, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through mentoring, education, positive experiences and stronger connections to culture and community.⁠
⁠
Earlier this month, the program culminated at the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Indigenous Round match against the Parramatta Eels – a fitting occasion to celebrate the young people involved and the important role culture, community and rugby league can play in creating positive pathways.⁠

It was a privilege to be part of the journey, and a Rabbitohs win made the night even more special.⁠

Another great addition to the growing Zetland community.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore AO officially opened the new playground at Gunyama Park – adding another important piece of public and green space to this thriving part of Zetland.

For Deicorp, the precinct is a great example of what thoughtful urban renewal can achieve when new homes are planned around transport, green space and community infrastructure.

To the east of Gunyama Park sits Deicorp’s completed Downtown Zetland precinct, with pedestrian links connecting through the park and Gunyama Park Aquatic & Recreation Centre, its playing fields and community open spaces, and onwards towards the local school and Green Square Station.

To the north, construction continues on The Avenues, which will bring additional homes and retail to the neighbourhood and contribute to the ongoing rejuvenation of the precinct.

Building communities means thinking beyond the homes themselves – creating connections to the parks, schools, transport, shops and public spaces that make a neighbourhood a great place to live.

We’re proud to continue playing a part in the evolution of Zetland and the wider Green Square community.
