β€οΈ 67 YEARS TODAY β€οΈ
Today would have been 67 years of marriage for Ken and Pam Bennett.
Their love story started as boyfriend and girlfriend at primary school in Kurrajong. From there came movie dates in Kurrajong, a wedding in Kurrajong, raising a family in Kurrajong, running an orchard in Kurrajong, and later building a real estate business in Kurrajong that employed and supported many local families. Oh, Kurrajong!
Together they witnessed enormous change over more than seven decades. They started with very little, working on the farm. Shy, quiet Ken became an exceptional salesperson. Diligent Pam became his solid spine. They worked hard every day and saved every cent so they could reinvest in their business and property.
They raised children and welcomed grandchildren. They made many close friends who became part of the wider Bennett family. They experienced the full range of human emotions - from wonderful to tragic. They carried each other through sickness and difficult times. In later years, when they were able to work a little less, they even managed to escape Kurrajong long enough to see a little of the world.
Ken left us in 2022 and is no doubt still doing land subdivisions, negotiating deals and talking real estate and Massey Ferguson tractors with his mates somewhere upstairs. Pam is still keeping busy, regularly spotted socialising around Richmond, Penrith and beyond with her friends, kids and grandkids.
They saw a lot in their years together, but through it all they remained best friends to the end.
Today we remember Ken, celebrate Pam, and marvel at a remarkable partnership that began in the 1940s.
