This Thursday, I would give anything to be sleeping in my car with the rest of our wonderful REIQ Gold Coast team. Instead, I’ll be doing the Live Like Her Challenge from my hospital bed!

I haven’t shared this on our Welcome Change Realty page until now, but on June 21st I sustained quite serious injuries after falling down the stairs and have spent the past few months in hospital and rehabilitation.

Throughout this experience, I keep thinking: what if I had suffered these terrible injuries and had no home to go home to?

It is hard enough going through something like this when you know you have a safe and comfortable home waiting for you. But medical staff here have told me that they have had to discharge patients knowing they were going back to live in their cars. It breaks their hearts and it breaks mine.

Can you imagine leaving hospital after an illness, injury or major surgery and going straight back to a car because you had nowhere else to go?

Women over 55 are now the fastest-growing group experiencing homelessness in Australia. So many have worked, raised families and cared for others throughout their lives, yet now find themselves sleeping in cars or without somewhere safe to call home.

Our REIQ Gold Coast team will be sleeping in their cars this Thursday, 19th September to raise funds for The Forgotten Women, but we still haven’t reached our team goal of $10,000.

I am so passionate about this cause and although I cannot be there in person, I would absolutely love your support.

Father’s Day can bring such a mix of emotions. ❤️💔

For many, it is a beautiful day spent celebrating with Dad or Grandad. For others, it can be a sad day filled with memories of someone deeply loved and missed. There are also broken families and dads who may not be able to have the regular contact with their children that they long for.

I feel incredibly blessed to still have my beautiful dad, who is 93. I was so grateful to be with him for his birthday earlier this year and although I can’t be with him today, I will be thinking of him and can’t wait to see him again, hopefully very soon.

However you spend Father’s Day, I hope and pray that you are able to be with someone you love or hold precious memories close to your heart.

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures who make such a difference in the lives of the people they love. 💙

Happy Mother’s Day 💕

I would like to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day today. It’s the one thing everyone has in common when they enter the world…a mum.

If yours is still here on earth as mine is, I hope you have a special day today, even if it’s just a phone call ☎️

If yours has passed on, I acknowledge that today may be one of the hardest days of the year. My hope and prayer is that you are able to spend time honouring the memories of her and the impact she had on your life. 🤍

I also want to acknowledge that there are so many people grieving the fact that they wanted to be a mum and weren’t able to, for whatever reason.

Thank you to all the aunts, sisters, step mums, friends, teachers, carers, mentors and others who step in to support and nurture young lives in a mothering capacity. You also deserve to be honoured on Mother’s Day 🌸

I’m blessed to be my age and still have my precious mum (she is turning 90 in September). I’ll be spending Mother’s Day with her in Sydney, treasuring every minute with her and every hug. 💗

Life is short. Praying today is special for you, however you are spending it. ❤️
