“Who decides where new roads and homes go?”
Ever wondered who plans where new roads, parks and homes are built? It all starts with a Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) — a big picture blueprint that guides how a new suburb will grow over time.
A PSP maps out future:
🏫 Schools
🛣️ Roads and transport links
🌳 Parks and open spaces
🏘️ Homes and shopping areas
The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) works with Council, State agencies and landowners to create these plans — long before construction starts. Once a PSP is approved by the State Government, developers must follow it when they apply to build.
So what PSP do you live in? In Woodlea, Aintree and (Woodlea's slice of) Bonnie Brook are in the Rockbank North PSP (created in 2012). The rest of Bonnie Brook to the east is in the Plumpton PSP (2017) and in the north it's the future Warrensbrook PSP (not yet created).
