It's official! EIR is now certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.

Quality and safety, both independently audited.

Here's what that actually means. An auditor who doesn't work for us went through our documentation, our inductions, our incident records and the way a variation gets approved. Then checked whether what we say happens on site is what actually happens on site.

It found things. We fixed them. That's the whole point of it.

What we're proudest of is that when the auditor went looking, most of it was already there, because our team had been doing it properly long before anyone was checking.

Thank you to Danny, to Danielle at Empire Ops, to David, and to every one of our team who put up with being asked to write down what they already knew. 💙

Today we’re celebrating the woman at the heart of EIR.

Cath’s leadership, strength and genuine care for the people around her have helped shape EIR into the business and team it is today. She leads with kindness, works incredibly hard and has a way of making everyone feel valued — qualities that inspire the people lucky enough to work alongside her.

Every site has something the drawings didn’t mention.
On a council site shed in Drummoyne, ours was a stormwater line encased in concrete.
We could have stopped and written a variation. Instead, we brought in a hydraulic consultant and a structural engineer, redesigned around it, and built the shed to suit an access constraint that ruled out standard craneage anyway.
Then we produced as-built drawings and handed them to council - so the next contractor on that site knows the line is there.
That’s constructive thinking.

Canberra this week ✈️

Half the team packed up and headed three hours south to an airline hangar at Canberra Airport.

The job? Two items a condition report flagged as “low risk” with twelve months to fix. Corrosion starting on the façade fixings. Some loose flashing along the eastern elevation.

Nothing dramatic. Nothing anyone would notice.

Which is exactly why we’re there.

Catch the small stuff early and it never becomes the big stuff. That’s the whole job.
