Celebrating 20 Years with Alesha!

Congratulations to Alesha Benbow on reaching an incredible milestone, 20 years with Rees R & Sydney Jones! Alesha joined the firm on 24 April 2006, and over the past two decades has become an invaluable part of our team.

Starting her journey as a Word Processing Officer, Alesha’s dedication and growth have seen her progress to Paralegal and now into her role as an Estates Clerk, working alongside our Managing Partner, Kerry Attwill. Along the way, she was mentored by past partners Roger Baker, Andrew Palmer, and Gerard Houlihan, shaping the knowledgeable and compassionate professional we know today.

Her colleagues and clients alike agree, we couldn’t be more fortunate to have Alesha on our team. Her professionalism, kindness, and genuine care are highly valued by all who work with her.

Thank you, Alesha, for 20 wonderful years of dedication.

Last week, our Partner and Rural, Energy & Environment Leader, Melanie Findlay, represented the Central Queensland Law Association at the District Law Association Conference hosted by the Queensland Law Society in Brisbane.

The conference is an annual opportunity for District Law Association Presidents to discuss regional issues and learn from cohorts across the State. Key themes discussed and workshopped related to access to justice, legal aid funding, graduate lawyer recruitment and retention, and the challenges of servicing rural communities in a state as geographically large as Queensland.

The Queensland Law Society advised DLA Presidents that they are championing a new policy committee to support regional lawyers in advocating for change and improved resources in rural and remote communities.

DLA Presidents also attended the QLS Presidents Dinner, which featured addresses from Attorney-General Deb Frecklington, QLS CEO Matt Dunn, The Honourable Debra Mullins AO, and 2026 QLS President Peter Jolly.
