There are some segments of the media and the community who like to portray the owners of rental properties as greedy capitalists taking advantage of tenants.

On the contrary, the majority of landlords are everyday folk who are working hard to try and build a better future for themselves.

Anyone that has been a landlord will tell you it's certainly no walk in the park.

A few takeaways from the article below:

- Of the 2,268,161 landlords in Australia 71% own just one investment property.

- Almost one in two landlords who own one rental home earn less than $100,000 per year.
