We have a fresh warning for you - Dodgy door knockers back targeting WA homes with shoddy roof repairs and we need your help to track them down.

These conmen move from town to town using high-pressure tactics to push overpriced roof restoration jobs – often delivering little to no actual work. They also ignore the 10-day cooling off period for unsolicited work.

🔎 Help us track these travelling conmen down - Anyone who receives a knock at the door from traders offering roof restoration services should say ‘no’ and call Consumer Protection on 1300 30 40 54 or email [email protected]. We need information such as descriptions of offenders, vehicle registrations numbers or business names used, and CCTV or security camera footage would be helpful.

Our advice:
✅Always seek multiple written quotes to compare price and value
✅Research traders in advance by requesting references and viewing examples of previous work.
✅Paying by credit card as it potentially provides the protection of getting a chargeback if the goods or services aren’t delivered, unlike payments made via bank transfer or cheque which offer no such recourse

Typlex 1050 pipes are considered a material fact and sellers and investment property owners should tell their agent and property manager if pipes are present at their property.

This made us laugh on a recent roof. The parapet wall cap should be supported underneath with timber framing on top of the bricks. It also should be slightly sloping so water can run off. We assume there are no supports under this. I suppose it is thoughtful of the builders to let us know its unsafe with their silicone message!

This is something we see a fair bit, bolts not tightened in roof timber connections. Often people complain to us of squeaking creaking noises coming from their roof when it’s windy 🌬️
