Families are paying a premium to live near the Gold Coast’s top-rated public schools, new data reveals. SEE HOW MUCH IT COSTS
The top-rated high schools on the Coast, as ranked by Better Schools, include Varsity College, Benowa State High School and Southport State High School.
House prices in Varsity Lakes have jumped 18.6 per cent over 12 months to $747,500, Benowa surged 21.4 per cent to $1.0925m and Southport jumped 21.2 per cent to $715,000.
For primary schools, Beechmont State School tops the Better Schools’ rankings followed by Broadbeach and Tallebudgera state schools.
Beechmont’s median house price is up 13.4 per cent to $527,500, Broadbeach Waters jumped 19.5 per cent to $1.46m and Tallebudgera is up 19.2 per cent to $1.24m.

Brisbane has finished the year as Australia's fastest-growing property market, with property prices continuing to rise full steam ahead at the same time Sydney and Melbourne's markets are slowing down.
Core Logic's Best of the Best report found Brisbane dwelling values rose 2.9 per cent over November and a massive 7.4 per cent over the quarter, its highest rate of quarterly growth since 2002.
Brisbane's most popular neighbourhoods included Cleveland and Camp Hill, which topped the list of suburbs with the highest total value of sales in Greater Brisbane, followed by North Lakes, Redland Bay and Thornlands.

You can still buy a house around the $1 million mark close to the Brisbane CBD if you look hard enough – making the city great value compared with Sydney and Melbourne, and one of the main reasons some inner-city postcodes are super hot.

Nowhere has Brisbane’s strong pull for interstate buyers this year been more evident than in the 3km ring around the CBD.

“Where can you buy a house in Australia for a million dollars where you can walk to the city, it’s unheard now. You spend the same amount of money in Mt Gravatt East at the moment,” she said.

“East Brisbane is relatively undervalued, it has a lot of opportunities for people who want to be close to the city. A lot of people buy there because of Churchie, people coming from Sunnybank and Rochedale are buying there to not have to deal with traffic. You can find houses for a million.”
