Walking Football at Warnbro Strikers Soccer Club

Walking Football at Warnbro Strikers Soccer Club A social activity for mature aged footballers modified to an appropriately slower pace.

🌞🍂🩵 The sublime Autumnal weather on offer continued to attract good numbers at Monday 13th’s 🚶⚽️ session.
13 keen players with a solo and busy 🐶🗣️ Des, on the sidelines, made for a most enjoyable game; sticking with the ‘3 Touch’ format which again proved a winner!
It’s great to involve everyone at all times which is what 3 Touch seems to provide.👏
*Although we may have to curb our enthusiasm and watch our actual running off the ball!!! 😡
The marginally less agile 🧡 team were compensated with the 7th player, having the returning Gordon🤲 as ‘stay at home keeper’, Gareth, John Cox, Paul Cole, Colin, Rick and newbie Paul G. (Howey’s Docker ⚓️ 🏉💜mate) on debut at the round ball ⚽️ game.
Did quite servicably too!👍
The decent 💙 six had Phil as sweeper/keeper 🤲, Ross, Howey, Tony, Andy and Mark.
The quarter by quarter scores being :
💙 🧡
1/4. 3 - 1
HT. 7 - 4
3/4. 10 - 5
FT 13 - 6

The 💙’s did jump to a 6-1 lead with the stoic 🧡’s hauling back the scoreline to 7-5 then 10-6 later on, so not quite as one sided as you might think!
Didn’t get the ‘rub of the green’ either, with a rightfully unpaid goal that glanced of GK Phil’s head and trickled over the line! *High off the keeper so keeper’s ball!😉🤣
Mark got a fistful 👊 of goals for the 💙 with reliable defender Ross also claiming a hatrick. Rick also troubling the scorer with a few himself for the 🧡.
So see you all next week, with a couple of known unavailabilities, so everyone try and make it for next Monday 20th’s session.
Be there early to help set up.
Even if you can’t play come along and support and assist Des on the sidelines.
It’s great camaraderie for us all! 🤝👴👨‍🦳🧓🤝

🌫️ Easter Monday’s mild weather was custom made for a great turnout, of matured aged gents👨‍🦳🧔‍♂️👴, looking for some mildly competitive exercise through the game they love🚶⚽️.
A solid crowd of 12 players, with Des solo on the sidelines, allowed for two quite even teams of 6 to compete on the compact 35 x 26 paces pitch.
*Three touch style of play was agreed to be trialled and what a winner it was! ✅
With everybody involved at all times, minimal ‘not walking’ and with no ball hogging, 3 touch indeed proved to be a resounding success throughout the first half.
The Blue🔵6 were Phil🤲 in goal, Ross, Howey, John Cox, Leeds Paul & Mark in attack.
While the Orange🟠6 comprised of Paul🤲 as a super sweeper keeper, Rick, Dax, Tony, John Cooper & Gareth up front.
1/4 by 1/4 scores being :
🟠 🔵
1/4. 3 - 3
HT. 6 - 4
3/4. 7 - 7
FT. 11 - 8
The aforementioned first half was played in great spirit 👏, only to deteriorate a little in the third 1/4, with some players oddly wanting open play and arguing with some decisions. Remember the refs decision, or indecision😉, is final and just play on; it’s only a social game!
*Hopefully 3 touch is here to stay, as I believe everyone noticed the rise in standard, quality and enjoyment with even some field positioning happening!👏
Not all just chasing the ball, and prone to running🏃, as quite often happens with open play!
We must all be conscious to NOT run 🏃‍♂️ off the ball either, let’s just WALK🚶, heel to toe with one foot on the ground at all times!
It shouldn’t be hard! (Curb your enthusiasm fellas!!!)
See you next Monday in this ‘new era’ of social Walking Football.
🤔You never know we may even build up to four touch Walking Football, as there is a lot of talk worldwide of that possibly being encouraged. 👍

A great turnout today for the Labour Day Public Holiday 🚶⚽️ session, both on and off the field.
Occasional ref & time keeper Des was ably assisted on the sidelines by ‘rent a crowd’ , with Moira, Louisa & little Noa plus Stephanie offering ‘support’ 🗣️ with Angela ; and her husband and potential new player Stevie collecting the multitude of stray ⚽️ shots. Also nice to see the recuperating John Cox who dropped in. 👍
On the field a rather strong 🔵 team consisting of Phil 🤲 then Gareth🤲 sharing goal keeping duties with the talented foursome of Paul Cole, Tony, Col and Andy roaming the outfield.
The slightly underdone 🟠 team saw the ‘blast from the past’ Andy Harris return 👏, ‘Leeds Paul’ enjoying a day off work (what a Goooooooooal⚽️) and sharing GK duties with Howey👊, Mr. reliability Ross at the back with John Cooper and Mark roaming the midfield & up forward respectively.
This competitive match’s scoreline read :
🔵 🟠
1/4. 3 - 1
HT. 5 - 3
3/4. 9 - 4
FT. 14 - 7

Nontheless we were all rewarded with a decent game played in perfect fine conditions.🌞🩵🌬️ 22°C.
*Let’s keeping promoting our game to others, speaking of which, I’ve put our 🚶⚽️ info on both local Facebook sites : ‘Residents Of Safety Bay’ with some 23,000 members and ‘Rockingham and surrounds Chat’ with 25,000 members.

A message from Howey👨‍🦳, the site creator (today 01-02-2026), to help promote our existing Walking Football🚶⚽️ club.
Des Nichols is our chief organiser and coach/coordinator, while I, Graham Howard, the designated PR man, photographer, player and promoter ; hence the one setting up of this FaceBook site.🤔
We have a core group of about 15 mature aged footballers, of varying ability (vintage ranging from 50🧔‍♂️to 80👴), but are keen to promote the joy of Walking Football to many more mature aged men🚶‍♂️and women🚶‍♀️in our ever expanding Rockingham community.
As a group we have been together since late 2019, starting out at the Rockingham Autumn Centre, then relocating to Georgetown Drive Reserve, Safety Bay from early 2022.
We are now affiliated with the Warnbro Strikers Soccer Club and have access to their changeroom facilities.
So come along and try out the fast growing sport of Walking Football 🚶‍♀️⚽️, a great pastime for our ever ageing population.
