Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising Easter Raffle. Max and his family will definitely enjoy the variety of prizes in there. Thank you also to Erin Ryley and the staff Community Bank Sarina for your ongoing support of Wongabeena Village. Proceeds of the raffle will go towards the refurbishment of the recreation room.

Attended the 2026 Community Bank Sarina Community Engagement Program information night at the Sarina Bowls Club last night and was thrilled with the attendance. Community Bank Sarina generously supports local clubs, individuals and institutions through Grants, Sponsorship and Scholarships made possible because we, as a community, bank our money locally through the Bendigo Bank. Thank you Community Bank Sarina for your passion and commitment to our community.

On Sunday the Wongabeena Village Management Committee and Tenants gathered for their Annual Christmas Lunch. Wongabeena Village would like to sincerely thank those who assisted with this event: Glen Kelly MP through his Christmas Club Grant, paid for meals, the lovely Therese at Terry White Pharmacy Sarina, donated a hamper of Christmas goodies for each of the tenants and the Sarina Hotel gave us a very generous discount on our beautiful Christmas Lunch. All of this generosity ensures that funds raised at Wongabeena Village are directed towards the maintenance of existing units and the construction of new ones. Thank you Sarina for your dedication towards providing affordable housing for older citizens of our community.

In a bold attempt to debunk the myth that Wongabeena is part of Sarina's Nursing Home, the Management Committee has decided to adopt a new name. Whilst our Registered Charity name is and always will be Wongabeena Sarina Aged Housing Inc, we will, moving forward, use the name Wongabeena Village. Now, if anyone smarter than me can tell me how to change the page name I'd appreciate a tip or two. When I try, it tells me I can't but gives no reason. I'm thinking it's because it is so similar to our existing name. Any ideas?

Thank you COMMUNITY BANK SARINA for your generosity and support by approving our Building Project Grant application. Work has commenced on planning and surveying and hopefully early next year we will be able to post photos of progress as Council approves applications and work commences. This is an exciting time for Wongabeena and the Sarina Community.

Postings have been a little slow lately but that's because we've all been working behind the scenes writing grant applications and getting things ship shape for our tenants.
Things have been extremely busy since July and we been blessed beyond measure with community support. Wongabeena would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the following:
COMMUNITY BANK SARINA for their extremely generous grant towards our Building Project.
COMMUNITY BANK SARINA for the donation of a Marquee
PORTERS MITRE 10 for their donation towards the cost of a Pressure Washer for use on site for cleaning.
MACKAY REGIONAL COUNCIL for their Community Impact Grant to use on signage for Wongabeena. Hopefully to be erected early next year.
Glen Kelly MP for his Christmas Club Grant towards our Christmas Lunch for Tenants
TERRY WHITE PHARMACY for their donations towards Christmas Hampers for our tenants.
As you can see from the photos, our Committee Members have been out and about at the Sarina Community Bank AGM and also on site at a much-needed working bee made easier with our new pressure washer.
Our Christmas Lunch will be held this Sunday so watch this space for more photos after that.
