🌿 Glad to be a part of the 2025 Waratah Program WA! 🌿
This year’s cohort truly reflects the incredible diversity of Asian communities in Western Australia, with participants from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar, and beyond. The richness of our different migration stories, generations, and cultural identities is what makes this program so impactful in fostering inclusive leadership.
We had the privilege of hearing from the Hon. Mark McGowan AC, Former Premier of Western Australia, who shared inspiring reflections on his leadership journey.
Other distinguished speakers and lecturers included:
• Dr Sadhana Bose – President, Ethnic Communities Council of Western Australia
• Dr Abi Young – Adjunct Research Fellow, UWA
• Hon. Pierre Yang MLC – Parliament of Western Australia
• Cr Emma Zhang – City of Gosnells
• Cr Terry Lee – City of Melville
• Cr Andrea Creado GAICD – City of Stirling
• Ms Karen Ho – Former DG, WA Department of Training & Workforce Development
• Hon. Dr Andrew Lu AM – President, Mental Health Tribunal
• Ms Helene Fung – Senior Policy Officer, Australian Government
The full-day sessions were expertly facilitated by Ms Annisa Li Zhang, Chairperson of the Asian Leadership Foundation.
A warm welcome was extended by Mr Drew Williams, Chief People & Culture Officer at UWA, while Dr Maggie Jiang, Associate Professor at UWA and Joint Convenor of the Waratah Program WA, provided a heartfelt program overview and reflections from her own leadership journey.
Feeling inspired and grateful to be part of this program that champions inclusive leadership and multicultural excellence.
