Unfortunately, there has been no change in the weather, with the ongoing conditions could be now beginning to show their effects across parts of the market. Despite this, quality weaners with weight behind them continued to attract strong competition and remained in demand.

Cows followed a similar trajectory to last week, however, a significant decline was recorded, with the quality of cattle on offer a contributing factor. The best cows topped at 390c/kg, a decline of 25c/kg week-on-week. The average cow price fell to 327.8c/kg, down 57.3c/kg from last week.

200-280kg reached 638.2c/kg (down 6 cents) averaged 571.8c/kg down 27.8cents
280-330kg reached 606.20c/kg (down 30 cents ) averaged 548.8c/kg up 13.3 cents
330-400kg reached 606.20c/kg (up 24.2 cents) averaged 532.0c/kg down 6.2cents

Heifers
200-280kg reached 550.00c/kg (up 2 cents) averaged 479.5c/kg down 33cents

Another dry week across the region, however prices remained positive overall.
Light steers were generally dearer today, while middle-weight steers eased slightly. Heifers showed the inverse trend, with middle weights dearer while lighter heifers were cheaper.

Cow prices declined marginally this week, with prime 4-score cows topping at 415c/kg, down 5c/kg week-on-week. The 88 cows offered averaged 385.1c/kg, also a 5c/kg decline on last week.

Spring has Sprung with another week of solid results. with most categories firm to stronger across the yarding. Light steer calves were the exception, easing back after their strong gains last week, while the broader market continued to show plenty of strength.

A nice improvement in the cow market today with the best making 420c/kg a gain of 25c on the back of last week. The average cow price also rose substantially by 34.3 cents.
