sheBuilt is about developing projects of impeccable quality and giving women in the built & artistic environment the opportunity to collaborate and create landmark projects. As well as recognising women in the built environment, we are supporting women in the art environment, providing a platform for change in the art world where there is a huge gender disparity.

A big day at Monash Caulfield today (Saturday) for the Victorian AIA Awards! Wishing Claire Scorpo, Director at Agius Scorpo Architects, all the best as she represents BVIA on BANK across multiple categories.

Developed by a talented female-led team, this project is a refined balance of heritage and modernity, sympathetic to its surroundings while embodying elegance, simplicity, and timeless glamour. The design enhances the striking gothic architecture, removing past alterations and creating an elegant backdrop that allows it to stand forward and proud in its historic glory.

Beyond aesthetics, the design also pays homage to the rich family history incorporating elements of the cobbler’s trade, leather, stitching, craftsmanship, and the spirit of hard work and family. It also reflects the legacy of Bank Street itself, once an Aboriginal meeting place, embedding layers of history into a landmark building that, in time, we believe will become heritage in its own right!

When a vision becomes reality, you just have to share. We are near completion and yes I should have probably waited to share these images when we reached practical completion, but they look so good I had to post. If you look closely you may notice bits that still have a little more work to go, but hey, don’t let that get in the way of a great story! More to come ….

sheBuilt is excited to welcome Huff Bagelry to BVIA on BANK, in South Melbourne. , a family-run cafe modelled on classic New York-style bagel houses. Serving damn good bagels, arguably the best in Melbourne, Huff will be situated on the ground floor Tenancy in Bank Street.

Coffee at Huff is also great, serving beans from Allpress Espresso in Collingwood. They say, there’s nothing better than sitting out the front of Huffs, double-shot latte in one hand and still-warm bagel in the other.

Another structure, another floor & layer going in.

Now working on the component next to the gracious heritage building. This part of the site is where my family once lived. The two windows facing the street was our bedroom and the floor below is where they ran their business.

Top Out! So excited to walk across the top of this sheBuilt Development. The progress has been fabulous so far! Thanks to the team behind this amazing landmark South Melbourne commercial project.

This development has so many layers of inspirational design, driven by the vision of supporting women in the built environment, respecting heritage, family history, community, urban art and ultimately creating a landmark piece of architecture in the heart of South Melbourne.
