JUST SOLD | Elizabeth Street, Noosaville

Some sales are about more than the property.

This one was about the right home, in the right place, for someone very special. A meaningful result and a wonderful reminder of the people and stories behind every move.

It was far from a normal transaction.
The vendor had owned the property since new in 2008. The same tenant has occupied it since.

Unfortunately it was only when the vendor decided to sell that they realised the husband of the elderly couple had passed away earlier this year.
Needless to say it was hard for her to learn she would need to move due to the sale.

Then I received a call. Her daughter. An offer. Negotiations. We all worked together to make it happen.

Today, a happy vendor, a happy buyer from Melbourne, and her happy mum who can stay; now safe in the knowledge her home is permanent and her kids and grandkids will continue to enjoy the surroundings they once shared with their father and grandfather.

There were tears all round for this one.

A piece of Noosa's history... The year 1978 marked a proud moment for the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club, when their new surf-boat, the “Columbus Line”, was launched at Noosa Main Beach in front of lifesavers, club members and invited guests. The club itself traces its origins to a public meeting in April 1928 and has operated continuously to protect beachgoers at this iconic Sunshine Coast location. The launch of the surf-boat underscored the evolution of surf-life saving from early reel and belt-rescues into the rowing-boat crews and surf-boating competitions that became integral to surf clubs by the 1970s. Today the “Columbus Line” represents both progress and tradition - a reminder that Noosa’s surf lifesavers have always been guardians of the coast and ambassadors of the region’s enduring seaside spirit.

A piece of Noosa's history... Built by T.M. Burke Pty Ltd on the corner of Henderson and Bryan Streets, the rustic-styled Green Gables Cafe was part of the 1929 Noosa Beach Estate, Sunshine Beach development. The area passed through several names - Coolum Beach, Noosa Beach and Golden Beach - before finally becoming Sunshine Beach. The cafe soon became a friendly stop for locals and holiday-makers alike, serving as a social hub in the growing seaside village. Over the years it changed hands many times and even became a surfboard workshop, reflecting the evolving character of this coastal community.

A piece of Noosa's history... On 8 July 1973, the 1,600-ton cargo vessel Cherry Venture ran aground on Teewah Beach after fierce storms off the Queensland coast. Stranded high on the sands near the tip of the Noosa North Shore, it quickly became a dramatic landmark, drawing four-wheel-drivers and holiday-makers eager to see the wreck firsthand. By the mid-1970s, the rusting hull was a familiar sight along the coastline and remained so for decades, until its removal in 2007 for safety reasons.

A piece of Noosa's history... T.M.Burke, the original developer of Sunrise Beach, concentrated its development efforts on the west side of David Low Way and Peregian Beach. It wasn’t until 1970 that the company turned its attention to the ocean front land on the east side of David Low Way. An early development was the Shingle Chalet, located on Tingira Crescent, first opening in the 1970s. It was the only restaurant south of Noosa Heads and was supported largely by clientele from the nearby caravan park. In the 1980s the building became Jammy’s Restaurant before the site was redeveloped. Today, it is now a unit development and popular coffee shop for Sunrise Beach locals, Chalet & Co.
