Kerbside appeal

First impressions go a long way in real estate, which is why you need to make a strong initial impression before anyone even sets foot in your property. By cleaning up the front of the homeland adding some small touches, you can attract a lot of interest.

Start by mowing your lawns and giving your garden a clean. If you have a lawn, be sure to give it plenty of water and get it looking lush ahead of open homes or inspections. Remove any rubbish or junk that’s lying around. It can also be worth giving your fence a paint and hiring a pressure washer to clean up the pavers and bricks at the front of your home.

Neutral colours

While you might be a person that likes lots of colours and patterns, when you’re trying to sell your home, your goal should be to appeal to as many people as possible.

To do this, it is best to stick with neutral colours throughout the property.

Sparkling kitchen

A nicely maintained and clean-looking kitchen will be appreciated by most buyers. While a new kitchen would be nice, there are some other things you can do that won’t cost tens of thousands.

It’s possible to just replace the cabinet doors and handles which makes a kitchen look newer. Similarly, you can replace the benchtop if the old one is beaten up.

New appliances that are shiny and new can also turn an older-looking kitchen into a more modern and appealing space.

Remove personal items

One of the easiest things you can do is declutter your home and remove any personal items. Taking things out makes your home look larger and therefore more appealing to buyers.

People also need to be able to imagine themselves living in the property. If they see family pictures spread around the house, it can break the illusion that they are actually living there.

Backyard clean up

If you’re trying to sell your home to a family, having a nice backyard will be a big selling point. Kids love lawns to play on and space to run around.

Consider putting in some new plants and small trees well ahead of time so they are in full bloom by the time you want to list your home.
