Preparing Your House for Photography
Professional photography is vital to a successful marketing campaign. We are committed to providing the very best images and marketing to interest potential buyers. The following is a helpful checklist of how you can assist with this process:
INSIDE
De-clutter and remove any extra furniture and children’s toys to create space.
Clear kitchen benchtops and window sills from dishes, racks, chopping boards, sponges, soaps, plugs, cleaning equipment, tea towel, etc. Keep appliances to a minimum.
Ensure rangehood light is working.
Remove all of your fridge magnets and all other items off the fridge.
Remove excess books or magazines from tables.
Straighten chairs.
Remove towels, mats, scales, toilet brushes, spare toilet rolls, razors, shower caddies, toothbrush holders and any other toiletries from the bathroom.
Wipe over all mirrors and shower screens.
Remove all waste paper baskets and bins throughout the home.
Stow the vacuum away along with brooms, mops, etc.
Make all beds immaculately and arrange pillows attractively.
Remove any visible items from beneath beds.
Ensure bedside tables are clutter free.
Conceal all electrical cables where possible and remove remotes, newspapers etc.
Arrange bookcases, books neatly.
Ensure all light globes are in working order and try to use the same type of globe.
Clean windows particularly if there are views to capture.
Hide shoes, jewelry, tissue boxes, laundry baskets, portable fans and heaters.
Clean open fireplaces.
Remove any personal photos you do not want to appear in marketing material.
Remove washing from the washing line.
Lock pets away if possible and place pet beds and bowls away.
OUTSIDE
Put your car in the garage or out on the street away from the property.
Move bins right out of view or wheel them garage for the photoshoot.
Mow the lawns and trim hedges.
Hide any garden tools, hoses, empty pots or dead plants.
Remove basketball rings, bike, etc. from the driveway.
Take the washing off the line.
Make sure the pool is free of leaves and the pool vacuum is stowed away.
Rake or remove leaves from patios or outdoor entertaining areas and sweep clean.
Remove pool cover, hoses, leaves from pool.
Remove BBQ cover.
Ensure all outdoor lighting is in working order.
Place cushions on outdoor setting seats if available.
SUGGESTIONS
Add a vase of flowers and fill the fruit bowl.
Open all window coverings, blinds, curtains and awnings for maximum light.
Hang fresh towels neatly in bathroom.
Turn on all lamps and lights.
Set your dining table as if you were having a dinner party.
Set your outside table for a BBQ or stage a bottle of wine with some glasses.
Place cushions on outdoor furniture.
Fourth bedrooms, the laundry and inside the garage are great places to store any items not required for the photoshoot as these areas are rarely photographed.
