Despite the lockdown, Australian housing values are "15.8% higher over the first eight months of the year" according to CoreLogic's monthly Home Value index.

Australian housing values continued to record a broad-based rise despite the disruption from lockdowns. According to CoreLogic’s national home value index, dwelling values rose 1.5% in August; a rate of growth that is still well above average, but the lowest monthly rise since January.

CoreLogic has released it's Home Value Index for July. Australian house values up by 16.1% in the 12-month total.

CoreLogic has released it's Home Value Index for July. Australian house values up by 16.1% in the 12-month total.

Australian housing values increased a further 1.6% in July, according to CoreLogic’s national home value index. The latest rise takes housing values 14.1% higher over the first seven months of the year and 16.1% higher over the past 12 months.

According to CoreLogic, Sydney property values were down 0.4% over the month of May, 1.1% higher over the quarter and 14.3% higher over the past 12 months. In Adelaide, the values were up 0.4% in May, 1.1% up over the quarter and 1.8% higher annually.

CoreLogic head of research, Tim Lawless, said “Considering the weak economic conditions associated with the pandemic, a fall of less than half a percent in housing values over the month shows the market has remained resilient to a material correction. With restrictive policies being progressively lifted or relaxed, the downwards trajectory of housing values could be milder than first expected."
