Be brave

There’s nothing wrong with colour.

This coastal luxury home with interiors designed by used brave materials of concrete block work and timber screens in the style of Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan.

But in an even braver move, I convinced the client to use turquoise in the bathrooms, reflecting the waterside environment and injecting some surprise and colour in an otherwise monochromatic home.

Very pleased to help my client secure this amazing sky home in the tightly-held 2 Kings Lane for $6.1m in a highly competitive bidding process.

Tough market with lots of challenges around stock and competition, but we managed to shortlist and secure this property, do all the due diligence, and get ahead of other buyers by being prepared and doing our research.

Great price for the vendor, but equally happy purchaser given market conditions.

I love collaborating with talented people - and I have worked together closely these last 6 months, navigating the complexities of local planning and council approvals, and balancing those requirements with the client’s accommodation needs to design this modern, spacious 1 bedroom dwelling on the rear laneway of our client’s terrace. Accommodation includes car parking, studio/office, one bedroom apartment, and a roof terrace for sun baking and entertaining with views over the park and city. The urban aesthetic and clever space planning will definitely add value to the property and reinvigorates a previously ordinary rear laneway.

LIGHTING…
…makes all the difference to a room, especially in more formal areas.
This Cloud 19 Chandelier from the talented team at Apparatus Studio () in New York (supplied by Criteria Collection - ) really finishes off this dining room in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The chandelier is equally impressive and beautiful during the day with lights off, and at night when the light diffuses through the 19 orbs surrounding the three central from the three central globes diffuses through the 19 orbs surrounding it.
The cabinetry and new French doors completed earlier this year finally get the lighting they deserve!
This last big job of the year was helped by the professional team at Thorntek () - my go-to for all things electrical, comms, digital signage and audiovisual. While extremely challenging at this time of the year to get any trades to finish off jobs, I can always rely on Thorntek to complete a job and go the extra mile for my clients.
After a long 4 month wait for this light, I know the client is very happy with the final product.

PARTY TIME!
Fun project in the Annandale warehouse residence of a Sydney-based airline executive, creating this amazing and sexy bar area in time for a “Day of the Dead” Housewarming a few weeks ago. The brief was a bar that could be in a hotel in New York or London.
Black leather and brass handles (), black penny round mosaics (.tiles), and Chameleon Quartzite () feature with faultless cabinetry by Hoffman’s Interiors and trades by Jim Lakiss at Citywide Developments.
Design, finishes selection and project coordination by Gestalt & Stil.
