HAPPENING NOW - Travelodge Wentworth Avenue:

Returned travellers are being evacuated after a review found it had failed standards.

The operation to relocate returned travellers in COVID quarantine commenced on Tuesday afternoon.

All of Harry’s staff have been given the all clear.

We are so excited to be re-opening our doors tomorrow, Monday 3 August at midday after spending the weekend giving Harry’s a professional deep clean.

We are also very happy to inform you that all of our staff were tested and the results came back negative.

We will continue to maintain the upmost standards when it comes to keeping you all safe and we appreciate all of your understanding during these times. Let’s stay healthy, socialise safely and see you all soon at Harry’s!

The former Mark Foy's warehouse is a heritage-listed brownstone building taking up a city corner bound by Goulburn, Brisbane and Commonwealth Streets. It is one of the many surviving buildings typical of the warehouses and factories found in north eastern parts of Surry Hills during WWI. Built from 1920 to 21, the Federation warehouse was constructed on land leased from the council after its slum clearance program. During the building's life, it has had a variety of tenants including a branch of the former Bank of Australasia, which was located on the ground floor for thirty years. Paramount Shirts Pty Ltd occupied the greater part of the building for storage, production, sales and administration. Others since the 1950s included Oswald Sealy Pty Ltd, Bestknit Lingerie, Waltons Holdings and the Lex Collection Agency. The first floor was extensively remodelled during the early '70s for new offices. Ownership of the building changed from Mark Foy's in 1968 and then again from the new owners in 1972. At the termination of the lease in July 1978, the building was bought by the Electricity Commission which occupied one floor

I created this page as a place to communicate with other residents regarding things that concern us as a community including works by the City if Sydney and Ausgrid (which are ongoing)
I often find notes in my letterbox advertising or looking for carparks and see furniture discarded on P1, so thought this may be a great way to communicate, advertise and trade with our neighbours and also offer a little insight into our beautiful buildings history.
