E-bikes, scooters and EVs are in almost every strata building in NSW now.
And most buildings aren't ready for them.
Lithium-ion batteries are one of the scariest fire risks in shared residential buildings, and since August 2024, the NSW Government has introduced mandatory new safety standards that every committee needs to be across.
You can't place an outright ban on electric devices, and you shouldn't. But there are practical measures committees can put in place to keep the building safe, set clear expectations for residents, and make sure no one's using a dodgy charger or a common property power point to charge a vehicle overnight.
