The 2026 Federal Budget announcement included dramatic Negative Gearing reforms along with a reduction in Capital Gains Tax. While policy shifts often create noise, the fundamentals of our property market remain strong. For savvy buyers and sellers, change often brings new opportunity.

In summary:
- The “Now” Rules: If you own it now, nothing changes.
- Buying Established Later: The tax benefits of losing money to save on tax (negative gearing) are gone from 1 July 2027.
- Buying New Later: Tax benefits for new builds remain to encourage supply
