🥩 This week I sat down with Tim, the head butcher at Toowong Village Meats, to chat about what has made this local favourite such a fixture in the community for decades. Located in the heart of Toowong Village, the team has built a reputation for quality produce, expert knowledge and genuine customer service that keeps generations of locals coming back.

💜 One of the most inspiring parts of our conversation was hearing about Bowling for Millie, the annual fundraiser created by Tim and his family to support Epilepsy Queensland. Inspired by his daughter Millie’s journey with epilepsy, the event has grown into a major community fundraiser, bringing together local businesses, families and residents for a day of bowls, raffles, auctions and fundraising. Recent events have raised more than $15,000 to support Queensland families living with epilepsy.

A huge thank you to Tim for sharing his story and for everything he and the team do for the local community. If you haven’t visited Toowong Village Meats yet, this interview is a great reminder of why supporting local businesses matters.

Market Update - 1 June 2026

The budget came and went, and a heap of confusion came into the market. Grandfathering of existing CGT and Negative gearing, coupled with a shift to encouraging investors to build/purchase new. Very little in the way of encouraging new affordable construction.

What effect has it had on the market? We have definitely seen a drop in the amount of people inspecting properties, but offers are still being made and properties still moving.

I would look it as more the market levelling off, as opposed to the insanity that we have experienced over the past two years.

What happens next? Only time will tell.

Spent some time with Tea, the owner of MyGreenStuff, chatting all things sustainability, recycling and reducing waste in everyday life.
