1. The cassowary is a large flightless bird native to the tropical forests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia.

2. They are one of the heaviest birds in the world, with males weighing up to 59 kg and standing up to 6 feet (1.8 m) tall.

3. Cassowaries have a unique appearance with a colourful, bumpy head and a distinctive, bony crest called a casque on their heads.

4. They are known for their incredible strength and can run up to 50 kph and jump over 5 feet (1.5 m) high.

5. The cassowary is considered to be the most dangerous bird in the world, with sharp claws that can inflict serious injury.

6. Cassowaries are omnivores and eat a varied diet of fruit, insects, small animals, and even carrion.

7. They have a significant cultural significance for many indigenous communities, who see the bird as a symbol of power, strength, and spirituality.

8. Cassowaries are solitary animals and typically only interact with others during the breeding season.

9. Females are larger than males and lay up to 8-10 large green eggs that are incubated by the male for around 50 days.

10. Cassowaries are considered a vulnerable species and are protected by law in Australia.
