5 years to the day that our world changed.
Our Mum went into cardiac arrest while in bed at 4.30am, Dad did CPR and screamed for help. My sister used a Defib on Mum, and her partner called an ambulance and together they worked on her for the next 12 agonising minutes while they waited for the paramedics to arrive.
They saved her life ❤️
Everyone who knows me knows what my mum means to me. I think the world of her. I admire her for many things, but it’s her strength that never ceases to amaze me. And she wouldn’t be here today without my sister and Dad.
Not long after the ordeal my sister started Calys Helping Hearts and .hearts.foundation with goal of empowering people to help eachother when they need it most.
Everyone should learn CPR. Everyone should learn what a Defib is and how to find them and use them.
In life you only put energy and time into something if it affects you and this effected us big time. But we are using it as a lesson to help others. I want to urge as many people as I can to do a course in CPR. Do it every year. Do it so your body and your mind are prepared for when you least expect it, for when it matters most.
