Did you know leaking down pipes can be conducive to termite infestation and cause water damage to cladding over time.

It is recommended to reseal all joins to leaking downpipes.

When looking to purchase a new home during your inspection you might think it’s just a simple broken tile but this image from a recent building and pest inspection shows the underlining water damage from the simple crack under the floor.

In the event during a building and pest inspection when there are areas where access is restricted or not accessed structural defects, termite damage or activity may be present but not seen. Access should be provided and a follow up or re-Inspection should take place. Please consult with the vendor and request full access to restricted areas. This should be done prior to a decision to purchase.

Tree roots can be devastating and can cause severe problems to residential and commercial properties, particularly for slab on ground constructions and general concrete slabs such as driveways.

You will need to monitor existing structures with mature trees around them and if the tree roots become a problem you should consider installing tree root barriers.

So don’t forgot to consider this when inspecting properties prior to purchase.
