Mooroondu Lodge Local history of the Mooroondu road area Thorneside
Long before my relatives lived up the hill from w

Mooroondu Lodge stands on the block where the original weekend fishing shack stood. A fibro shack set in the middle of a double block with a sign above the door"Mooroondu Fishing Lodge" as well a hand painted Australian flag flew from an old cane surf rod. This information was told to me by my Aunt who lived up the road in the 50,s and 60,s she said the ghost of the old fisherman still roams the b

lock., it is true a strange translucent form has been seen on misty rainy nights. My daughter would not sleep in her bedroom because she said a fishy smelly man used to stand in her doorway and stare at her - probably me when I came home fishing in Tingalpa creek. But some bumps in the night are real, my mother complained a low constant sound was coming from inside the wall near her bed so I slept there when she was away and sure enough there was a noise in the dead of night - little critters chewing away , but a bit of surface spray down the wall got rid of them and harmony was restored for a short time. The midgee problem was a constant after the council stopped spraying. The gardens were lush and every time the lawns were mowed the midges would appear and make outside life impossible, the little buggers even get in through double meshed screens.
