JOKe
Brumby adopters, please be aware that NPWS decided in November 2024 to no longer sign Proof of Transfer papers for horses that have been rehomed.
I argued the point that a large group that I rehomed to a SPECIFIC adoption group for showing as registered Brumbies had been done PRIOR to November 2024 and their new ruling.
There response was that they no longer provide the forms OR sign them retrospectively.
If you wish to register your adopted brumby, please speak to your rehomer and your preferred Brumby Registry for what paperwork you need.
For my recommended Registry, we have agreed that if I provide photos, dates, and each horses information such as gender, colour, estimated age and marking plus a statutory declaration, this will suffice.
If you want to use the Parks form, and your rehomer doesn't have one, ask them to message me and I will send one. This will let you both put all of the details of the date of rehoming, the rehomer details, the horse/s details, a photograph and markings.
It is very disappointing that Parks have done this. The reason they have is twofold I think.
1. To remove all paperwork and traceability in case another slaughter/mistreatment case is raised
2. To devalue wild caught Brumbies and their DNA records
With so much captive breeding going on, without the proof of trapping and registration, the rehomed brumbies are just a mixed breed domestic horse.
We need to fight back on this and NOT let them stop us from registering and showcasing our brumbies.
