Here's why: Construction productivity has collapsed 53% over 30 years while the broader economy grew 49%. The average home now costs 9.4x income (vs 3.3x in 1984).

With 76% of Australians dissatisfied with housing - the second-worst in the OECD, it's safe to say this isn't a temporary crisis. It's a structural constraint that's been calcifying for decades.
