There’s been a lot of focus on Perla lately while I’ve been working on the restock (which is so so close btw)…..but gosh these ruffles get me every time!

I have so many of these pieces in my own home as I truly love how versatile they are. From holding jewellery, to serving food, a candle holder or styling tray —— they really are the perfect pieces for layering and adding a touch of understated impact.

I was approached by to create a bespoke vase for their new retail space — the perfect finishing touch for a stunning sales counter.

The material palette called for something a little darker so we went with a new clay body that was warmer but still had depth and a beautiful raw texture to contrast against the pearl detailing.

When it came to the form, we drew upon a few other vases in the Perla collection to create something consistent in style but better suited to the scale of the space.

Simple and subtle changes for a better connection to the space as a whole.

More than just decor, bespoke pieces are approached through a collaborative and considered process guided by a deeper understanding of the spaces they are being created for.

‘Slowly made spaces’ — a concept, a mindset, a design approach that has been on my mind this week.

My little studio has experienced its own slow transition from a dirty old shed to a fully functioning, light filled, creative space over the past few years….one that has taught me that sometimes the best spaces are not forced, not rushed, but created slowly and intentionally, piece by piece.

Despite the pressures and desires to have everything perfect and complete, working/living in an unfinished space in order to understand what it needs can be the key. Feeling the frustrations, the natural flows, the things you wish for and where you gravitate — and then resolving them with intention.

I have loved watching this space gradually transform into somewhere that looks, feels and functions better than I could have imagined at the beginning and it’s been a great reminder that it is okay to take your time and let each part slowly fall into place.

same same but different ——— that’s the beauty of handmade. each piece will always be slightly different from the next; formed by its own layers, pressures and tools to create something beautifully individual.

perhaps that’s part of why I love handmade decor so much…it’s more human, more relatable. in a way it feels similar to choosing between ai or real people — manufactured perfection vs warmth and authenticity. sure, there can be a place for the former…but the latter connects straight to the soul ✨
