🏡 You’ve accepted an offer on your home… so what happens next?
Getting that “SOLD” feeling is exciting 🎉 — but accepting an offer isn’t quite the end of the journey.
Here’s what generally happens next:
1️⃣ The contract moves forward
The buyer and seller work through the contract process and any agreed conditions.
2️⃣ Conditions are completed
Depending on the contract, this might include finance approval, building and pest inspections, or other conditions.
3️⃣ The property goes unconditional 🎉
Once the relevant conditions have been satisfied, you’re another big step closer to settlement.
4️⃣ Time to prepare for settlement 📦
Final paperwork is handled, the buyer may complete a pre-settlement inspection, and you can start getting ready to hand over the property.
5️⃣ Settlement day! 🔑
Once settlement is complete, ownership officially transfers to the buyer — and it’s time to hand over the keys.
Settlement periods and contract conditions can be shorter or longer depending on what the buyer and seller agree to.
