Friday night still has that "week's finally over" feeling, even after all these years. By Saturday morning, half the street's already down at the beach before most people are awake, coffee in one hand, dog lead in the other, nobody in a rush to be anywhere.

I usually end up at an open home or two, which sounds like work, but honestly, I like the quiet hour before people arrive. Just me, the smell of something baking and a house slowly waking up for the day.

Afternoons are for whatever's easiest. A walk along the cliffs if the weather plays nice. A late lunch somewhere that doesn't need a booking. Maybe nothing at all. Just sitting somewhere with a view and letting the weekend do what it's supposed to do.

Sundays are slower again. A market, if one's on. A coffee that takes longer than it needs to. And at some point, almost always, back to the water. Not for a swim necessarily, just to look at it for a minute and remember why we're all here.

That's the reset, really. Nothing dramatic. Just a weekend where the coast does most of the work and you let it.

Sometimes, the best money you can spend on a home is on the things that make it feel better to live in. Over the years, I've walked through homes with designer renovations worth thousands... and homes where a few thoughtful improvements made a far bigger impact.

The difference? They felt cared for.

There are many things I love about real estate, but one of the most rewarding is knowing that a client felt genuinely supported throughout the process.

By the time you walk through the front door on a Saturday, there's a good few hours already behind it that you never see.

I'm usually there early, alone, before the signage even goes up. First thing I do is open the windows if the weather allows it, because a house needs to breathe before anyone walks through it. Then it's the small stuff. Cushions get fluffed and re-angled about three times until they sit right. Something's baking, usually biscuits, because a house should smell like someone lives there and loves it, not like an empty display.

I walk every room one more time, slowly, the way a buyer will. I check the light. I check what a stranger sees first when they open a door I've opened a hundred times.

None of this shows up in a listing. But it's the actual work, the part that happens so that when you're standing in the kitchen wondering if this could be yours, all you're really thinking about is the house.
