Today’s 🐐 attempt at trying to die….

Escaped to the shed 😳

Found the fishing rods 🎣
(that were out because we’re taking them camping next week)

Tried to eat the lure 🦐

Thankfully the hook 🪝 went through his lip which means he didn’t swallow it.

Matt was able to cut the hook, slip it out of Bruno’s lip, no blood, no harm and Bruno wasn’t phased at all 🤦‍♀️ 🙄

It’s been a very slippery slide since Buddy, Bruno & Oscar 🐐 arrived and, despite seemingly trying to find different ways to die in what feels like an everyday drama, Buddy & Bruno are doing okay. ❤️

Earlier this week, we came very, very close to losing our gorgeous little Buddy. 💔

He was rushed to a local vet 🏥 where he was placed on oxygen and given IV fluids until he was stable enough to make the 🚘 trip to our rural/large animal vet in Kenilworth.

Since then, Buddy has had lots of bloods and faecal tests, more fluids, an ultrasound and is receiving ongoing treatment while we try to work out exactly what is going on and keep our little man heading in the right direction.

These farm animal babies go downhill SO incredibly fast, and to be honest, it’s a constant worry trying to understand what’s going on — and whether their behaviour is just them being goats, or another attempt to send us into a complete panic. 🤦‍♀️

Buddy, Bruno & Oscar have been, by far, our hardest rescues to date.

But oh, the learnings, the lessons and the love they have brought with them. ❤️

As hard as the hard days have been — and there have been plenty — loving these little guys makes every single one of them worth it.

We lost our beautiful Oscar along the way, but he taught us so much in his short little life, and we carry those lessons with us every day as we continue fighting for Buddy & Bruno. ❤️

Little Oscar 🐐 arrived home yesterday, 1 week after he passed away 💛 Time has eased the pain but seeing his little hoof print bought tears.

I received a lovely message from a friend “… sometimes the animals that come to us are like butterflies. They have short lives but are not worth any less, in any measure.” 🥹 🦋

Sending our love to our friends Parky’s Park Hobby Farm ♥️

I’d like to think Ralph and Oscar have found each other, and that they’re together now — free from pain, with no more sore tummies or struggling. Just two beautiful little boys jumping, skipping and playing together like baby goats should 🐐

You were both so incredibly loved in your short little lives. Rest easy, beautiful boys ♥️

Sweet kisses from Oscar 💋

Our sweet little Oscar 🤎 passed away this morning 😔

We are devastated 💔 but we know we did everything possible, he was just too precious for this world.

Oscar loved giving kisses as much as he loved receiving them 😘 he was such a sweetheart and he passed knowing that he mattered and that he was deeply loved ♥️ and adored.

Oscar will be cremated and stay at the farm forever 🕊️

So easy to ♥️ these boys!

Buddy & Bruno are going great 💪 drinking, playing and growing 🍼

Oscar 🐐 is our biggest worry though. He’s tiny and has no reserves. His body isn’t digesting milk and it’s causing him all sorts of tummy pain. Ketamine pain relief helps but, it’s not enough. Oscar is currently seeing a vet twice week. At 3 weeks old his rumen isn’t developed enough for him to want or eat hard food like hay and grain. Milk needs to be his primary source of nutrition but he won’t drink as he associates it with pain.

At this stage we are focusing on keeping him hydrated with electrolytes but he’s barely drinking that too 😞 we will try and wean him onto hard food as soon as we can. Electrolytes alone isn’t going to give him the nutrition he needs to survive.

While he’s still standing, we’ll keep trying 🤞
