▪ PUNQ Festival 2026: Pop Up North Queensland, presented in partnership with the North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA)
▪ 'A Radical Art History: Artists, Ideas and Cultural Exchange Across Forty Years', produced by Umbrella in partnership with James Cook University
▪ 'A Shifting Reality' - Jill Chism, presented by Umbrella as part of NAFA.
▪ 'Overthink' - Justin Bishop, presented across two sites for PUNQ Festival.

Make it an evening of contemporary art! Following the launch event, we invite you to take in two PUNQ installations that will be open at the old Bank of NSW building. 'Caretaker' by Kellie O'Dempsey is an immersive installation exploring care, memory and the unseen labour of women, and will be open until 8pm. Alongside it is 'In Absentia' by Tzar - an ethereal projection installation in which the shadows of North Queensland flora and contemporary dance intertw**e, reflecting on our human oscillations with nature. In Absentia will be open until 10pm.

Something pretty special is happening in the heart of our city 💚🦘

On Friday 2 October, Palmer Street will play host to the WildHaven North Queensland Wildlife Hospital Gala Dinner Spectacular, celebrating the official launch of a dedicated wildlife hospital for North Queensland!!!

And this is one we’d love to see Townsville get behind.

Join WildHaven for a night of live music, raffles, auctions, great food and plenty of fun all while supporting an incredible initiative that will help care for our region’s native wildlife when they need it most.

Now that we’ve all found the perfect spot at home for our fabulous new artworks, we thought it was only right to look back on the incredible week that was the Incognito Art Show right here in the heart of our beautiful C*D! 🎨✨

Thousands of artworks, hundreds of new homes for them to hang in, and a whole lot of creativity, connection and excitement brought to Flinders Street. We absolutely loved seeing our city embrace something a little different!

And the best part? 👀

Surrounded by thousands of artworks, a room full of people who believe in our city and breathing life into an empty space was everything we’d envisioned for An Evening Incognito!

It was about more than art. It was about creativity, connection, community and bringing something new to the heart of Townsville.

Sometimes, all the stars align!

Last night, Uptown had the privilege of hosting An Evening Incognito, our exclusive opening night celebration for the Incognito Art Show and by a wonderful stroke of timing, Queensland’s Minister for Education and the Arts, John-Paul Langbroek MP, was in Townsville and able to visit the show.

Thank you, Minister Langbroek, for taking the time to experience this incredible exhibition right here in the heart of our beautiful city. We’re incredibly proud to see Townsville hosting the Incognito Art Show’s first regional exhibition and showcasing what our city can achieve 🎨

And of course, a very special thank you to Janelle Poole MP, a passionate advocate for Townsville and North Queensland, for choosing to spend your Tuesday evening with us. Thank you for continuing to believe in our city, support our community and champion the opportunities that help Townsville thrive.

This is exactly what Uptown is about bringing people, ideas and experiences back into the heart of our city.
