South East Queensland faced the impact of Cyclone Alfred with
heavy rain, strong winds, and some localised flooding stretching from the Gold Coast to Hervey Bay. Thankfully, it wasnโ€™t as intense as initially predicted.
A huge thank you to our emergency services, SES volunteers, and all the community members who worked hard to ensure everyone's safety and helped restore normalcy. ๐Ÿ“ฃ Targeted Kerbside Collection of Disaster Waste in Hervey Bay

A targeted kerbside collection of disaster waste will take place in storm-affected areas of Hervey Bay starting Monday, 17 March 2025.

The Queensland Fire Department and State Emergency Service (SES) have been assessing damage in the hardest-hit areas following the severe weather on the weekend, with assessments continuing today.

๐Ÿ“ž Register for Collection
Residents and businesses requiring a kerbside collection are asked to please register with Council by calling 1300 79 49 29.

This will help us understand the demand and the amount of waste that needs to be removed.

โœ… How to Prepare Your Waste
To assist with collection, please place waste neatly and separate items rather than piling everything together.

Sort items into these categories:
๐ŸŒฟ Garden organics
๐Ÿ”ฉ Scrap metal & white goods
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Mattresses
๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ Furniture & general household items
๐Ÿ“บ Electronic waste
๐Ÿงฑ Concrete, bricks & masonry
๐Ÿšง General demolition waste
๐Ÿšซ Do NOT put out asbestos-containing materials
๐Ÿšซ Spoiled or spoilable food waste should go in your general waste bin (red lid).

๐Ÿ’ก FREE Waste Disposal Option
In the meantime, disaster waste can be dropped off for free at the Nikenbah Waste Facility.
