Opening Doors Foundation

Opening Doors Foundation's aim is to provide affordable seniors and disability accommodation in a community setting.

We achieve this by providing the accommodation on a rental only basis. Opening Doors Foundation has a development application lodged with Wagga Wagga City Council for affordable seniors housing and specialised disability housing on vacant land at 70 Pinaroo Drive, Wagga Wagga NSW 2650. Exciting times are ahead at Pinaroo Village, with Stage 3 now almost complete and new tenants set to move in very soon.

On Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the fantastic team from ICG Construction Group to the village for a special lunch and presentation. As part of the occasion, ICG generously donated a much-needed PA system for the tenants of Pinaroo Village — a wonderful addition to our community centre that will enhance resident functions, events, and social gatherings for years to come.

We were also pleased to host Layla and Cam from Channel 7 News, who visited Pinaroo Village to film a story focusing on the current housing shortage and the importance of affordable and secure housing within our community.

Gail Ayton shared her personal experience of living at Pinaroo Village, speaking about the positive impact the village has had not only on her own life, but also on the lives of fellow residents. Gail highlighted the importance of safe, secure, and affordable housing, along with the strong sense of community that Pinaroo Village provides.

ICG General Manager Jason Martin and Opening Doors Foundation Administrator & Property Manager Lee Hesketh also spoke about the vision behind the development of Pinaroo Village and the growing need for quality housing options for seniors and people living with disabilities.

We would sincerely thank ICG Construction Group for their ongoing partnership, support, and commitment to helping create such an important and life-changing community space.

Big win for an incredible project 🎉

A huge congratulations to ICG Construction Group on taking out the Riverina Murray Regional Excellence in Building Award in the Aged Care/Lifestyle Over 55’s ($10M–$15M) category at the MBA Awards on Friday night! 🏆

We’re proud to have partnered with ICG to bring this our Pinaroo Village to life, and to have their team deliver such an outstanding result. It’s been a great collaboration, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work together on something truly special.

A huge shout out to Lyn from our locally owned NRMA office who joined us at our luncheon and chatted about the importance of insurance.

We had a great conversation with many questions being asked, and quite a few "wow" moments about how a contents policy doesn't just protect your personal items, as it can also cover you for accidental injury to others or damage to the landlord's property.

Parts of the area were hit quite badly, but we were lucky with a bit of wind and rain.

We had a great day at our monthly community lunch. Easter raffles, sausage sizzle and diamond artwork gifted to us by Trish! Our guest speakers were Chantelle and Ruth from . Such a great day.

Stage 3 at Pinaroo Village is fast approaching completion, and the sense of excitement across the village is growing 🙌

Since opening day, we’ve seen a genuine and supportive community flourish — one built on connection, care, and shared experiences. Through the work of Opening Doors Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation which is dedicated to providing affordable housing for pensioners and persons with disabilities, Pinaroo Village has become more than just a place to live — it’s a place to truly belong.

As we prepare to welcome new residents, we’re proud to share that Stage 3 also include SDA units, that have also been included in stages 1 and 2. These units are designed to support a range of needs, including Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, and High Physical Support. These homes have been thoughtfully created to provide comfort, independence, and the right level of support within a connected and inclusive community.

Our current tenants are excited to welcome new neighbours, and those getting ready to move in are counting down the days. We can’t wait to open the doors and continue growing this incredible community together.
