In the mining period, Spetts Cottage was surrounded by other houses although in recent years several new ones have been built around it.
This picture shows the cottage (at centre left) in its original form with only two rooms and lean to extensions at the back. The gabled roof extension at the left was added about 1910.

Spetts Cottage was built in 1871 and is one of a handful of remaining gold era homes in Walhalla. In recent years it has been carefully restored to respect its built heritage whilst offering modern conveniences.
It is currently being offered as very successful short stay accomodation and can continue operating that way, or it makes an ideal weekender or permanent residence.
