THE TRUCK FINALLY ARRIVED!

We start the day in the Tarkine rainforest with a stunning sunrise and some of our local birds showing off before Ron gets stuck into another busy day around the property.

The greenhouse is coming along, and Ron explains the concreting method he is using for the garden beds. He also points out a couple of mistakes he made along the way — and more importantly, how he plans to fix them and prevent the same thing happening again.

Then it’s back to the electric fence, with Ron showing where he is up to and what still needs to be done.

But then… THE TRUCK ARRIVED! 🚛

Last week the truck never made it to the property because it became bogged at another job. This week, however, it finally arrived — and WOW, is it huge!

And this isn't just any truck. It's a Walking Floor Truck, and what comes out of it is absolutely incredible stuff. Rich, black, dirty and packed with goodness, this load is going to make a huge difference around the property.

From sunrise and wildlife to greenhouse construction, electric fencing and one seriously impressive truckload of material, there’s plenty happening here in the Tarkine!

🚛 Thursday Teaser

Something BIG finally arrived at the property this week! 😲🚛

After missing us last week because it was bogged at another job, the truck finally made it to the Tarkine!

And let me tell you… this isn't just any truck, and what it delivered is going to make a huge difference around the property. 🖤🌱

But that's not all we've been up to…

FROST, FENCES & SURPRISES

A frosty morning in the Tarkine rainforest brings plenty of activity on the property! ❄️🌿

We start the day with a beautiful frost — but the peaceful morning doesn't last long when the plovers decide the drone has entered their airspace! 😂🦅

Then it's back to work as we check the progress on the compost bays and the greenhouse garden beds, before there's some talk about a surprise truck that may — or may not! — be arriving. 👀🚛

We also get stuck into the electric fence, working on the top string as we continue fencing around the property. Then we take the drone up for a look over the large pile of tree debris that arrived last week, which will eventually be turned into mulch for the property.

And, of course, no episode would be complete without interruptions from the girls! 🐕😂

There's frost, plovers, gardening, compost, fencing, forestry debris, drones, dogs and a possible surprise truck — there's a lot happening this week!

Beautiful Blue Wrens in the Tarkine 💙🐦

A beautiful day in the Tarkine rainforest brought some very special visitors into view. 💙🐦

We have a number of breeding pairs of these gorgeous Splendid Fairywrens living throughout our block, and today I took some time to simply sit back and enjoy watching them.

Their beautiful blue colouring, tiny size and busy little personalities make them such a joy to have around. ❤️

Just another little glimpse of the wildlife we are lucky enough to share our home with here in the Tarkine, Tasmania. 🌿

🚨 NEW VIDEO THIS SUNDAY! 🚨

It starts with a frosty morning here in the Tarkine… ❄️🌿

Then the plovers decide our drone has absolutely NO business being in their airspace! 😂🦅

From there, it's another busy week on the property as we check the progress on the compost bays and greenhouse garden beds, work on the electric fencing, and take the drone up for a look at the huge pile of tree debris that arrived last week and will eventually become mulch.

And, of course, the girls make sure they get their share of camera time! 🐕😂

But there's also a little mystery lurking in this week's episode…

SPRING DIDN’T LAST!

Spring finally arrived in the Tarkine… for TWO whole days! 😂

But don’t worry — Tasmania had other plans! The rain returned with a vengeance, followed by the start of the snow. So what actually happened to spring???

Thankfully, during those precious gaps of sunshine, Ron managed to get cracking on the formwork for the greenhouse beds and made some great progress on the greenhouse build.

And, of course, Shimba and Jazzy were there to supervise every single step. 🐕😂

But the girls apparently decided that Ron needed even more supervision, because overhead we suddenly had a family of three Wedge-tailed Eagles cruising around the property! 🦅🦅🦅

The local Plovers were NOT impressed and launched their best attempts to attack the visiting eagles. The Wedge-tails, however, seemed completely unfazed by their noisy little escorts and simply continued enjoying the view of what we were doing below!

So come along for another week of life here in the Tarkine rainforest of Tasmania, with greenhouse construction, dogs, wildlife, sunshine, torrential rain and the first snow of the season.

🌱🌧️❄️ THURSDAY TEASER ❄️🌧️🌱

Spring finally arrived in the Tarkine…For TWO DAYS! 🤣

Then Tasmania decided that rain, wind and the first snow of the season were much more appropriate! 🌧️❄️😂

But in those precious moments of sunshine, Ron was busy making progress on the greenhouse beds, while Shimba and Jazzy made absolutely certain he was properly supervised. 🐕🐕🤣

And then things got REALLY interesting…

🦅 Three Wedge-tailed Eagles came cruising overhead!

But the local Plovers weren't about to let them enjoy the view in peace! 😂

Greenhouse Progress, Potato Problems & Very Slow Worms! 🥔🪱

After a week of rain, hail, frost, snow and even a little sunshine, we finally get a chance to get back to work on the greenhouse! 🌧️❄️☀️

Ron continues working on the greenhouse build, while we check on the newly planted potatoes and worm beds.

Unfortunately, the compost bandit has been busy… and has eaten ALL the potato sprouts! 😩🥔

The freezing Tasmanian weather has also put the worms into slow mode, but they're still very much alive and happily enjoying their latest food donation. 🪱🌱

It's been one of those weeks where all four seasons decided to turn up at once! 😂

Ron’s Electric Fence Lesson Gets Hijacked! 😂🐶

Ron is trying to explain how to set up an electric fence when Jazzy decides there are MUCH more important matters to attend to! 😂

She heads straight to Ron for some attention — and, more importantly, to get him to rescue her bone from Shimba! 🦴🤣

Because apparently electric fences can wait… but stolen bones cannot! 😂🐾

Another day on the block where the dogs have their own agenda!

🌦️ THURSDAY TEASER

🌧️❄️☀️ ALL FOUR SEASONS IN ONE WEEK?!

Well… Tasmania certainly decided to keep us guessing this week! 😂

After rain, hail, frost, snow and even a little sunshine, we finally managed to get back to work on the greenhouse. 🏗️

But while Ron was busy with that, there were a few other things happening on the block…

🥔 The potatoes have had an interesting time…
🪱 The worms have slowed right down in the cold…
😈 And our compost bandit has been VERY busy!

And of course, the girls were on hand to make sure nobody was working unsupervised. 🐾😂
